National Center to Improve Recruitment and Retention of Qualified Personnel for Children with Disabilities (Personnel Improvement Center) 

The  Personnel Improvement Center is a federally-funded technical assistance and dissemination project, created on October 1, 2008 and maintained through a cooperative agreement between the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE) and the US Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). As a technical assistance and dissemination (TA and D) project, the Center’s mission is to identify, disseminate and assist States in implementing evidence based practices to meet the need for highly or fully qualified special education, early intervention and related services personnel, including paraprofessionals.

The Iris Center
The IRIS Center is a national center that aims to provide high-quality resources for college and university faculty and professional development providers about students with disabilities. IRIS seeks to obtain this goal by providing free, online, interactive training enhancements that translate research about the education of students with disabilities into practice.

Loan Forgiveness for Public School Employees: The College Cost Reduction Act of 2007
One strategy for recruiting professionals into careers and/or settings where shortages of qualified personnel currently exist is the provision of “loan forgiveness” programs. The National Coalition for Personnel Shortages in Special Education and Related Services has advocated for many years for loan forgiveness programs as an effective method for reducing the shortages of special education and related service professionals.
